Kentucky State Police reported that 68-year-old Pearl Goodin, a resident of Parkers Lake, was behind the wheel of a Toyota SUV at the time of the accident. According to investigators, the SUV veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and collided with a guardrail. After the initial impact, the vehicle sharply overcorrected, which caused it to roll over multiple times before coming to a stop.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, where the McCreary County Coroner pronounced Pearl Goodin dead at the location of the crash. Her passenger, 73-year-old James Goodin, also from Parkers Lake, sustained critical injuries and was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities noted that neither Pearl nor James Goodin was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Both individuals were ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, which likely contributed to the severity of their injuries.
