Born in New Jersey, Michele grew up with a deep sense of purpose, driven by her desire to help others. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Seton Hall University, later pursuing an Intensive Fellowship in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health at Montclair State University. As a fellow of Dr. Lucy Jane Miller, Michele became a leading expert in sensory processing and integration disorders, advocating for children and families nationwide. She co-authored a chapter in the 3rd edition of Sensory Integration: Theory and Practice and was actively involved in research, including the development of Connect Experience Write®, a handwriting program.

Michele founded Great Kids Place in 2015, creating a state-of-the-art sensory gym in Rockaway to support children with sensory processing challenges, ADHD, and social-emotional difficulties. Her innovative approach, rooted in play-based therapy, transformed lives, earning praise from families who described her as “brilliant” and “kind.” She was a clinical consultant for Flaghouse, designing sensory therapy equipment, and educated therapists globally as a faculty member at the STAR Institute for Sensory Processing Disorder. Michele’s personal experience as a mother of two children with sensory processing differences informed her empathetic approach, helping families navigate the complexities of these challenges.

The circumstances of Michele’s passing remain private, with no specific details disclosed. The Denville and Rockaway communities have expressed deep sorrow, with tributes on X highlighting her as a “transformative force” and a “compassionate leader.” Great Kids Place continues to operate under her vision, with staff committed to upholding her legacy. Michele’s work touched countless lives, with parents noting significant progress in their children’s confidence and emotional regulation under her care.

Michele is survived by her two children, her husband, and extended family, whose names are withheld for privacy. A memorial service is being planned, with details to be shared through Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Great Kids Place or a sensory processing research organization in Michele’s name, reflecting her lifelong dedication to children’s well-being.
